Quality Engineer Software as/and QM Moderator and Motivator

An internationally active family business with over 450 employees and global market leadership in dosimetry was looking for an experienced personality for the area of software quality management. The position was of crucial importance for the further development of software quality – from embedded systems to modern cloud applications – and was to play a key role in the entire development process as a moderator and motivator.

The task was challenging, as the person sought was not only expected to ensure quality standards, but also to actively support the teams and inspire enthusiasm for quality. The company was therefore looking for someone who combined technical depth with strong communication skills.

Challenges

Filling this position proved challenging for several reasons:

  • The role required a deep understanding of software development and quality assurance in medical technology, ideally in accordance with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971 standards.
  • In addition, the company was looking for someone who could moderate complex processes, motivate teams, and communicate quality guidelines in a pragmatic way.
  • The company works on high-end measurement and medical technology that requires extremely high precision. Expectations were correspondingly high in terms of documentation, risk management, and MDR-compliant product files.
  • The mix of classic and agile methods required flexibility and experience across various development models.
  • Specialists with expertise in quality management, software development, cybersecurity, and usability engineering are rare and highly sought after in the market.

Our approach

To find the right personality, we:

  • Targeted candidates who have practical experience in both software development and quality management.
  • Placed particular emphasis on strong communication skills, moderation abilities, and motivation, as these factors are key to the role in terms of content and culture.
  • considered candidate profiles that included both embedded experience and knowledge of modern cloud architectures in order to cover the entire technological spectrum of the company.
  • The company has positioned itself as an attractive employer. It is characterized by innovative strength, a modern working environment, flexible working models, and a strong focus on its employees.
  • We provided candidates with detailed information on usability engineering, risk management, requirements, and MDR topics to ensure transparency and security in the process.

Result

After an intensive and targeted search, we were able to recruit a candidate who is ideally suited to the requirements, both professionally and personally. He brings experience in software development, is familiar with the regulatory framework for medical technology, and has strong communication skills.

With his motivation and strong facilitation skills, he now supports the teams in quality-related issues, is responsible for process-compliant documentation, provides support on cybersecurity issues, and strengthens the further development of the QM system.

The company has thus not only successfully filled a key position in quality management, but also gained a personality who will make an important long-term contribution to software quality and team culture.
