A small-scale, highly specialized consultation boutique – that’s our best description of BESTMINDS

Both managing directors of BESTMINDS sat down for an interview on the occasion of the company’s 10-year anniversary. Qualified business manager and medical technology specialist Siegfried Faix reveals his personal motivation for founding BESTMINDS as well as his vision for recruitment consultation at the time.

What inspired you to found BESTMINDS?

I had been working in the area of executive search since 2003. After gaining initial experience in what was then fairly standard recruitment consultancy, covering all industries and service divisions, I quickly realized that I wanted to make a change. It didn’t take me long to develop a plan – I wanted to focus carefully on specializing in a few, more familiar areas. For me, that meant medicine. But there was no room for my aspiration in recruitment consultancy at that time. So, after lengthy deliberation, I knew that taking the leap to start anew with BESTMINDS was the only possible solution. With this new venture, I could focus entirely on applying my expertise in order to connect motivated candidates with the right clients for them.

What did you do differently at BESTMINDS?

In my many years of professional experience, I have learned that one thing remains constant. At the end of the day, the “right” people have to come together – regardless of their fields of expertise. This is an essential characteristic of recruitment consultancy and the core of the BESTMINDS philosophy. We attach great importance to establishing a relationship between candidate and client which is built on mutual respect and authenticity. The customer, consultant and candidate should all leave the search process satisfied and certain that the right match has been found.

There is a second managing director at BESTMINDS. Can you tell us a little bit about him?

That’s right. Christian Männlin and I are both managing directors and associates of BESTMINDS, and we share the same rights and privileges in this regard. We have known each other for over 20 years now, having worked in the same local area before founding BESTMINDS. Our initial shared experiences in the predecessor company to BESTMINDS proved that our different career backgrounds actually complement each other quite well. We then founded and set up BESTMINDS together with two other associates. Christian is more responsible for the technical aspects of the company, the website and IT operations, while I take care of the business side of things.

Are you satisfied with the way in which BESTMINDS has developed?

Absolutely! I have never lost sight of the vision I had at the beginning and am quite pleased that my conception of executive search has been so well received by clients and candidates alike. My team and I have become friends with many of the people we have met over the years, and our relationships with our many clients and candidates are based on a deep mutual trust. We have grown organically over the past 10 years and the development of our team has been very harmonious, constructive, inspirational, dynamic and above all successful. I am excited to see what the next 10 years of BESTMINDS will bring.
