On the occasion of our 15th anniversary, we look back on the founding history of BESTMINDS. Siegfried Faix, a graduate in business administration and medical technology expert, was a co-founder of BESTMINDS. In this interview, he explains his motivations for founding the company and his vision for personnel consulting at the time.
I have been working in executive search since 2003. After gaining initial experience in what was then a typical HR consultancy covering all industrial and service sectors, I quickly realized that I wanted to change things. It soon became clear to me that I wanted to specialize in a few areas that we were familiar with. This includes everything related to medicine. However, I was unable to realize this desire in my previous HR consultancy role. After much consideration, there was only one solution for me: to make a fresh start with BESTMINDS. Here, I was able to apply my expertise in a very focused way to connect motivated candidates with suitable clients.
During my many years of professional experience, I have noticed that one thing always remains the same. Ultimately, the right people have to come together. This is an essential feature of personnel consulting and is independent of technical expertise. I built BESTMINDS with this core idea in mind. We attach great importance to building a relationship between candidates on the one hand and clients on the other that is based on respect and authenticity and takes place on an equal footing. Ultimately, the client, recruitment consultant, and candidate should emerge from the search process satisfied and confident that they are a good fit for each other.
Christian Männlin and I have known each other for over 25 years from the Freiburg business community, long before BESTMINDS was founded. After our initial experiences together at BESTMINDS' predecessor company, it quickly became clear that our different backgrounds complemented each other perfectly. Together, we built BESTMINDS. Christian is more at home in the technical field and takes care of IT and software, while I have focused primarily on economic issues in the past. I have now largely withdrawn from the operational side of the business, and Christian is the sole managing director.
Absolutely. I never lost sight of my vision, and to this day I am very grateful that my ideas about executive search have been so well received by both clients and candidates. Numerous contacts have developed into genuine friendships, and I enjoy a very close working relationship with many people. Over this long period, we have grown organically, and our team has developed dynamically and successfully. I am very excited to see how BESTMINDS will continue to develop in the coming years.
