The 35th International Dental Show (IDS) ended on Saturday, 16th March 2013 with record results after five days in Cologne.

125,000 trade visitors from 149 countries visited the world's leading dental trade fair, which represents an increase of 6 percent compared to the previous event. Top marks were also achieved in terms of exhibitors and occupied exhibition space. 2,058 companies (+ 5.3 percent) from 56 countries presented a wide range of innovations, products and services on 150,000 square metres (+ 3.4 percent). With a foreign share of 68 percent on the exhibitor side and 48 percent on the visitor side, the international character of the event was also further enhanced.
The global appeal of this leading trade fair is increasing from year to year. The industry expects positive developments on the national and international market to continue in the future, particularly due to the high level of internationality and the pronounced decision-making authority of the trade visitors.

The exhibitors were impressed by the numerous excellent business contacts, the visitors by the comprehensive range of products and services on offer and the large number of innovations.

Strong increases in visitor numbers were recorded above all from Russia, Japan, Ukraine, Brazil, China and Turkey. The quality of the visitors was also repeatedly highlighted.
This is confirmed by the initial results of a neutral visitor survey:
According to this survey, 83 percent of the visitors surveyed are involved in procurement decisions made by their companies. This ensured good business.

The visitors were also extremely satisfied with the event. The visitor survey showed that 74 percent of those surveyed were (very) satisfied with IDS. The comprehensive product spectrum and numerous new products ensured that 79 percent rated the range of exhibits as (very) good. 74 per cent were (very) satisfied with the achievement of their trade fair objectives. Overall, 95 percent of the visitors surveyed would recommend visiting IDS to business partners.

A clear trend in technical development is digitalisation in dental practices and dental laboratories. New cooperations and alliances between leading manufacturers and new suppliers were presented, both in the development and marketing of equipment and machines and in the design of the digital process chain. Dental implantology, tooth preservation and prophylaxis are also a growth driver for the industry.

BESTMINDS Executive Search has been supporting the dental industry in medical technology very successfully for many years. This includes filling all relevant positions in sales, marketing, product management, development, administration and production.
